Kristína Mésároš: PRODIGY – First major solo exhibition in the Czech Republic.
Paintings by Kristína Mesároš evoke surreal, dreamlike collages emerging from the subconscious, where memory functions just as much as the present. In her work, time becomes a vibrant mosaic, a world that is continuously broken down and rebuilt, shifting like staged magic between concrete memory and fading dream. The value of time accumulates into deeply personal and sometimes intimate patterns, which the artist then translates into painting.
Kristína Mésároš (born 1981) is a notable Slovak figural painter known for her work in magical realism. It is this tendency that links her to the wider context of Central European painting tradition. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava from 2000 to 2006 (Department of Printmaking and Other Media) and furthered her education at the Lasalle College of Arts in Singapore in 2009. From 2008 to 2014, she revisited the Bratislava Academy during her postgraduate studies. She was nominated for the Award for Young Artists in 2008 and 2009, part of Painting 2008 and Painting 2009, organised by the Slovak Ministry of Culture.
